Frequently asked questions

The digital Battery Passport is a standardized, digital document that records and makes available all relevant data about a battery - from the materials used and production processes to performance and recycling status - in real time. With the BaSyx Enterprise Battery Passport from objective partner, this information can be managed automatically and made available transparently.

The EU wants to strengthensustainability and transparency in the value chain with the digital Battery Passport . It serves to fully document the carbon footprint, the origin of materials and the condition of each battery. This can increase recycling rates, promote the circular economy and reduce environmental impact.

  • Sustainability: Precise information about raw materials and manufacturing conditions supports environmentally conscious decision-making.
  • Traceability: Insight into the entire life cycle helps to identify quality problems and risks at an early stage.
  • Efficient recycling: Complete documentation simplifies recycling and reduces costs.
  • Legal certainty: Compliance with EU regulations minimizes the risk of infringements.

The obligation for the digital Battery Passport is to come into force on February 18, 2027.

The digital Battery Passport is intended for LV batteries, electric vehicle batteries and industrial batteries over 2 kWh. The exact product categories are defined by the EU Battery Regulation. The aim is to cover all batteries with a significant impact on the environment and resources.

The BaSyx Enterprise Battery Passport from objective partner enables seamless integration of supply chain, production and product data into a digital system. This promotes:

  • Efficiency: fewer manual checks and documentation.
  • Quality assurance: Faster tracing of problems and sources of error.
  • Innovation: New business models and services relating to the battery life cycle and maintenance.

Mit Lösungen wie dem BaSyx Enterprise Batteriepass von objective partner können Unternehmen diese Vorteile direkt nutzen und implementieren.

This is implemented via a digital platform and standardized data models (e.g. Asset Administration Shell) that records, updates and links all relevant battery data. With the BaSyx Enterprise Battery Passport, objective partner offers a ready-made solution that can be seamlessly integrated into existing IT systems. This ensures that companies can provide all prescribed data in a compliant and efficient manner.

More Information

Legal basis and benefits of the digital battery passport

The EU Battery Regulation promotes a more circular economy by prescribing transparency and traceability throughout the entire life cycle of a battery. This brings clear benefits for companies:

Opened battery unit of an electric vehicle - insight into the cell structure and cabling in the context of the Battery Passport and sustainable battery tracking.

Those who act early not only avoid possible penalties, but also gain a competitive advantage. In addition, the digital Battery Passport acts as a central communication tool between all parties involved - from manufacturers and service companies to recycling companies - and contains:

  • General battery data
    (e.g. model, manufacturer, production date)
  • Technical specifications
(e.g. capacity, charging cycles, state of health)
  • Sustainability information
(e.g. carbon footprint, origin of materials)
  • Maintenance and repair history
(e.g. services carried out, warranty claims, warnings)
  • Recycling and end-of-life data
(e.g. dismantling instructions, recycling options, safety aspects)

The separation into public and non-public areas means that each role only receives the relevant data. The QR code on the battery is used to access this information directly and with authorization - a decisive advantage for efficient maintenance, repair and disposal processes.
